Why not encourage students in Years 7-9 to get involved in SheCanEngineer's Inventors and Innovators STEM Day, taking place on Monday 20th June. SheCanEngineer is a joint effort by multiple Professional Engineering Institutions to encourage more girls to consider engineering careers and celebrate women in engineering.
The event, which will be held leading up to International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), is aimed at students in years 7 - 9 and will consist of a full day of exciting and engaging workshops and activities. The event is free to attend, and lunch will be provided. The event will be held at The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1 Birdcage Walk, SW1H 9JJ, London from 09:30 – 16:00.

• To showcase the breadth of engineering fields they can get involved in
• To encourage development of new problem-solving skills, and to raise students’ aspirations
regarding their own capabilities and interests
• To show that engineering is career suitable for people of all genders
The event will consist of:
1. A robotics workshop led by Learn by Design, which will introduce students to key robotics programming concepts, and show the wide applications of robotics in different industries.
2. A second workshop led by SheCanEngineer about stadium design, showcasing the variety of engineering roles and the broad skillset required by engineers, such as teamwork and negotiation.
3. An engaging panel debate, where young professional engineers will pitch their favourite inventions, in a bid to win over the audience.
4. A careers fair with the Professional Engineering Institutions for students to learn more about different fields of engineering, and routes into engineering careers.
