Every second breath we take comes from the Ocean. It captures more than 50% of global carbon and is the primary protein source for over 3 billion people.
Trillions of pieces of plastic pollute the Ocean, entering every marine habitat and eventually our own food chain. Climate change threatens some of our planet’s most productive habitats. Human activity at sea causes resource exploitation and noise pollution, jeopardising entire populations of Ocean wildlife. The Ocean is intrinsically connected to all life on earth.
Engaging youth is an incredibly important part of our movement as 41% of all people in the world today are 24 or younger. That's more than 3 billion young people who are going to have to live the rest of their lives with the consequences of today's environmental actions.
Therefore, investing in education is critical first step in ensuring a sustainable future. By positively engaging with students we can educate and inspire collective action and promote tangible behaviour change, all while fostering a sense of agency.
For the next generation to protect the Earth’s most precious ecosystem, it must first understand its importance.
