Share your STEM Club Knowledge and Support Other Club Leaders

By Joanne Mitchell posted 18-03-2021 15:43

The STEM Clubs programme is seeking club leaders both current and past to volunteer for a series of digital interviews to support new online learning courses. Club leaders can be at any stage of running a club as all experience levels is needed.

You will be asked to talk about various aspects of running a school based club and your personal experience in a short video recording which will be incorporated into the course content. Topics for discussion include pros / cons / benefits of a STEM club, how you gain support, how to maximise impact, using STEM Ambassadors etc.

Volunteers need experience of a STEM Club either through running one directly or through supporting one. Ideally your experience will be with UK secondary schools, but long-term engagement with a primary school STEM club would be applicable.

The purpose is to share good practice and promote general discussion amongst course attendees. Enabling them to develop their STEM Club provision to provide enhanced impact and benefits to their club members and the school.

We are looking to for a list of volunteers by 31 March, with filming due to start in April, the commitment is an hour or two of home based filming, questions will be provided in advance to enable preparation of answers.

Club leaders need your experience and knowledge to help them inspire their students and create the most amazing STEM Club ever!

I have been running a regular STEAM Club every Saturday in Auckland New Zealand for 4 years. The group is in the vertical range ( year 9-15). I am an experienced Physics / STEM teacher.
Participants come from 10 different schools and we use Indigenous Maori world view on mentoring, Tuakana Teina method of mentoring, ie older or slightly experienced help younger learners.
I may be able to help and collaborate with buddy mentors.
