Salters’ Institute Chemistry Club

What is Chemistry Club?

The Salters’ Institute is excited to launch this innovative and unique online, interactive learning platform for 11-14-year olds. It aims to demystify chemistry and showcase the breadth and depth of chemistry as a subject and a career, and spark and nurture an interest in chemistry in young learners before they choose the subjects they will study later in secondary school.

The Salters’ Institute are working with current university students, leading researchers and industry professionals to produce age-appropriate interactive content that will be shared each weekday throughout the calendar year.

In 2021/22, the themes that will be explored include: Medicine, Cosmetics, Human Body, Explosions, Food, Emotions, Materials, Oceans, Environment, Metals & Minerals.

How does the platform work?

The platform has high levels of interactivity with beautiful illustrations relating to each monthly theme which really bring the science to life on the learners’ screens. Learners will be able to check their progress through their profile portal and can choose to complete the activities as the content is released each weekday or at their own pace.

How will being part of the Salters’ Chemistry Club benefit learners?

The Salters’ Chemistry Club aims to increase the accessibility of chemistry for young learners at the start of their secondary education, a time when chemistry is perhaps not on their radar. It is a great tool that promotes independent learning and offers additional subject knowledge and support in a fun and engaging way.

How does this relate to me?

We would love for you to share this with your networks to engage learners and really help us to inspire the next generation of scientists. You can tag us on twitter with @Salters_Inst. If you would be interested in contributing to the content for 2022/23 we are currently starting planning and we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at chemistryclub@salters.co.uk
