Stories around GCSE results are currently dominating the news in the run-up to the new academic year - and Schools Week has published a handy at-a-glance article analysing 8 key trends from England's results data - including evidence that a geographical attainment gap is widening.

And finally...many congratulations to 92-year-old Derek Skipper, who passed his GCSE maths exam with flying colours! Derek says he sat the exam as it was "a bit of fun, and better than watching television" - and he achieved a grade 5, after last sitting a maths exam in 1946.
