The ERA Foundation has opened 2024 David Clark Prize nominations. The prize recognises exceptional STEM educators in the UK who have gone above and beyond to inspire students to pursue engineering careers. This year, two David Clark Prizes will be awarded: one prize to a primary school teacher and one to a secondary school, college or UTC teacher.

Winners will receive a £3,000 personal award and £12,000 for their school to promote engineering over the next three years. The educator will provide input on utilising these school funds.

The prize assesses vision for their student’s education, creativity in engaging students, and success in sparking their interest in engineering. Work over the past five years is considered, but sustained impact over extended periods may qualify nominees.

Nominations should be 600 words and include a 1-minute video showcasing the nominee’s achievements. A completed nomination form can be downloaded below and submissions must be emailed to andrew.everett@erafoundation.org by March 1st, 2024.

Winners will be announced at the ERA Foundation’s Annual Dinner in May 2024.

The David Clark Prize celebrates STEM educators motivating the UK’s next generation of engineering talent. We encourage exceptional teachers or those who know them to apply.

I was the fortunate winner of the Secondary award in 2020 (just pre-covid!) The generous cash prizes were transformational for our school at the time. The application format is different this year, but you may like to see the video which was submitted with my successful application.

It's been shown publicly on the school's social media and all the young people have media permission. The link is private - i.e. sharable but not searchable.
