Greetings from STEM Community HQ - its Friday and that means it's time for the discussion of the week! This week I would like to draw your attention to a great thread started by @Claire Ruthven which asks: one of the science leads in our primary network has asked for any recommendations of good programmes your schools use to plan your Science i.e. a package you can buy with science lessons/resources in it to ensure coverage/progression?

There have been loads of useful responses from @Emma Davies @Helen Sizer @Kate Sutton @Karen Brunyee @Tanya Shields and @Yolande Ifold
Thanks for all your contributions, the suggestions of Snap Science, Explorify, ASE resources and others will I'm sure have given Claire's colleague much to consider.

I'd also like to commend @Stephen Burrowes for his comment on the discussion:

As well as being good in it's own right, it's useful to point out to secondary colleagues that this is the kind of engaging thought provoking thing that is going on in primary classrooms.

As a secondary chemistry specialist I am consistently amazed at the science that goes on in primary classrooms.  Having delivered sessions on a couple of the primary science courses at the National STEM Learning Centre I have seen so many practical adaptations to allow experiments to be undertaken including tea light candles used as mini bunsen burners! I had no idea this was going on! So... secondary colleagues get in touch with your primary feeders and get in to those classrooms to experience what your Y7 students are doing first hand!
