Mark your calendars – Wednesday 18th June 2025 is National Thank a Teacher Day, and it’s time to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible people who make our early years, schools and colleges such special places.
Led by the charity, The Teaching Awards Trust, and supported by BBC Education, this annual celebration is more than just a thank you – it’s a moment to recognise everyone who plays a role in education. From dedicated teachers and teaching assistants to office staff, support workers, caretakers, and site managers – it takes a whole community to educate and inspire children.
Here’s how you can get involved:
1. Send a Free Thank You Message
Last year, more than 82,000 personlised e-cards were sent to teaching staff across the UK. Parents, carers, pupils – anyone can take a moment to say thanks to a teacher or member of staff who’s made a difference.
Sending a message is free and easy via the Thank a Teacher website. And if you want to help spread the word, there’s a free digital toolkit with social media graphics and newsletter content to download and share.
2. Celebrate in the Classroom
Get your students involved with free lesson plans and fun activities designed to encourage reflection on what makes their school community unique. These resources are a great way to highlight the different roles that support children’s learning every day.
3. Join the Celebration Online
Last year National Thank a Teacher Day had a press reach of over 60 million and was featured across major media outlets like the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and The Sunday Times. It even trended at #1 on social media!
Join the celebration this year by using #ThankaTeacherDay on your posts and stories. Share your messages, classroom activities, or team shoutouts across X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

So, whether it’s a message, a post, or a classroom activity – let’s come together on 18th June to say a big, heartfelt thank you to the amazing people who make our schools what they are.
