Climate Leaders Award and virtual National Education Nature Park

By Tom Lyons posted 10-11-2021 10:17

STEM Learning has commissioned Magpie to run focus groups with teachers and education leaders (early years, primary, secondary and FE) about the Climate Leaders Award and virtual National Education Nature Park initiative which was announced at COP26 and in the news last week.

The focus groups will help us to understand:

  • Likely demand for the initiative from schools and students
  • Continuing Professional Development for teachers to enable them to take part
  • Resources (physical and financial) required
  • Support from other organisations required
  • Barriers to taking part, and how they can be overcome
  • Activities most likely to engage students
  • Age groups to target
  • Students learning about nature in and around school

The workshops are Monday (6-7.30), Tuesday (5-6.30), Wednesday (4-5.30) and Thursday (5-6.30) next week. The registration link is here.

Magpie is looking for teachers and education leaders who would be willing to share their insight in one of the focus groups. The focus groups are designed for a range of participants so experience in this area isn't essential as we're keen to understand best practice but also the barriers that might exist for some schools that aren't currently running projects of this nature.

There is more information about the project here

Many thanks,

Tom
