Do you struggle to talk about your accomplishments?

Diversity and Inclusion are key themes being explored both by employers and individuals. A key attribute in people succeeding in their careers is their confidence. Many of us struggle when it comes to talking about our own accomplishments. Cultural and gender modesty norms as well as impostor syndrome can prevent anyone from acknowledging their remarkable attributes and expressing their achievements. An initiative called #IAMRemarkable strives to address inequalities by teaching approaches to self-promotion and encouraging everyone to acknowledge their accomplishments and become allies.

Championing the drive at STEM Learning include colleagues Sarah Myers, Leslie Whyte-Venables and Eva Fryc. All fully trained as #IAmRemarkable facilitators and all proud STEM Ambassadors they saw a keen link between the opportunities that STEM Ambassadors have and the skills taught through the #IAmRemarkable initiative.

Since 2020 a series of 90-minute workshop have all run online with STEM Ambassadors joining from across the UK. The most recent being in April 2023. We’ve welcomed over 100 STEM Ambassadors to workshops. We’ve even had a STEM Ambassador co-facilitate a session!

The main goals of the workshop are to improve the self-promotion, motivation and skills of women and underrepresented groups and challenge the social perception around self promotion.

The team have more sessions planned this year. What you can expect is an informal delivery of serious topics. Plenty of open discussion and positive challenge to get you started on your own #IAMRemarkable journeys.

The workshop welcomes all participants, male, female and non binary.

Booking link for next one on Thursday 3rd August at 9.00am can be found here.

Some key facts to note about #IAmR are:

  1. It’s a worldwide Google initiative
  2. Workshops have been delivered in over 178 Countries to over 450,000.
  3. It’s not just for women. It’s relevant for any under-represented groups or individuals to explore their own self-promotion skills and views.
  4. It’s fundamentally about supporting people, both in the workplace and beyond.

If you’ve not yet had a chance to attend we’d welcome you to join the next session.
