I have been reading the Mission 44 Education Policy Institute and CfEY report, ‘Progression at Age 16 of young people from underrepresented backgrounds towards careers in STEM’. As a primary teacher who works in a very low socio-economic area, I just feel that it is vital we deliver great STEM education to our younger pupils. You have to see it to be it- and building on learning in KS2 is vital in supporting everything in this report. We are working hard- delivering Careers Ed, Engineering and outdoor learning at our school @BurlingtonJuniors and increasingly in other schools. This is making a difference for our kids. STEM education and quality subject specific CPD for teachers- that STEM Learning UK offers- is vital in retention, confidence and engagement. SEERIH University of Manchester, Primary Science Quality Mark University of Harfield, The Ogden Trust, Primary Science Teaching Trust, Maker Futures University of Sheffield also ensure great primary STEM education CPD/opportunities are available #STEMforAll
