April Focus of the Month: Exam preparation

This month we’re focusing on Exam Preparation in STEM, supporting learners in the run up to their summer exams. This is a crucial time of year, where the focus shifts from teaching new content to helping pupils consolidate knowledge, apply what they know and feel confident in exam situations.

Across the month, we’ll be exploring practical strategies that go beyond simply revising content. From retrieval practice and spaced learning to modelling exam technique and tackling unfamiliar questions, we’ll look at what really makes a difference to outcomes. We’ll also share ideas for building effective revision routines and helping pupils understand how to revise, not just what to revise.

Consider how to prepare learners for exam conditions, including the use of mock exams, walking talking mocks and explicit teaching of command words and question structures. Alongside this, we’ll highlight approaches to support wellbeing, reduce anxiety and build confidence, recognising that success in exams is as much about mindset and preparation as it is about knowledge.

AI Sprints Season 2 is now live

Season 1 of AI Sprints brought trusted voices together for live, classroom-first conversations on AI—covering intentional leadership, trustworthy assessment (and its limits), equity and the “third digital divide,” and practical wins such as AI-supported feedback loops and SEND-friendly tools.

The key message for teachers was clear: keep the human firmly in the loop, teach critical AI literacy, use evidence, and apply AI where it clearly improves learning—safely, fairly, and with professional judgement at the centre.

You can still catch up on all Season 1 sessions on demand and take ready-to-use ideas straight into your classroom.
