A startling statistic, busting the misconception that it is older, more socially isolated people are most likely to be lonely, is that '40% of 16 to 24-year-olds
often or very often feel lonely, compared with 27% of over 75s.' * The charity Education Support say that this applies to young people across all backgrounds, diverse cultures and all genders. They go on to say that it is particularly important to look out for Early Careers Teachers who are very likely to be in the age group that is most vulnerable to loneliness.  If you would like to know what to do to support colleagues or if indeed you find yourself experiencing feelings of loneliness Education Support's free to download guide Loneliness: a guide for teachers and education staff can be found here It contains practical tips, suggestions of how to break taboos, myth busting ideas and dos and don'ts for effective actions.  If that gets you started thinking about wellbeing you can find more ideas in this blog about staff wellbeing  and part 2 here
