Are you teaching Year 7 maths next year? How will you know what they understand?

If you're looking ahead to next year, NCETM's Checkpoints - diagnostic activities - are designed to help teachers of Year 7 maths gauge the understanding students have brought from primary school, and suggest ways to address any gaps that become evident. All sets ofCheckpoints are now complete, along with recordings of seminars designed to help you get the most out of them. Explore further on the NCETM website.

Do you have a non-specialist teaching maths in your secondary school?

The NCETM's Subject Knowledge for Teaching Mathematics – Secondary Non-specialists Programme offers valuable CPD to those teaching maths outside their subject area. It focuses on subject knowledge and pedagogy, in a six-day programme run by Maths Hubs. Here's how one participant has fared this year. Places on the programme are still available for 2022/23 – find out more and apply.

Advanced Mathematics Support Programme videos

The Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) continues to add to its collection of five-minute videos showcasing the maths in different careers. A materials engineer and a would-be astronaut are featured in the latest additions.
