Exciting Opportunity: National Centre for Computing Education recruiting Computing Clusters in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire!

By Tisa Feremenga posted 05-11-2024 10:34

We are excited to share that recruitment is underway for two industry-funded Computing Clusters in the counties of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity for schools in these regions to receive free specialist support from a range of dedicated Cluster consultants and work together towards the shared goal of achieving excellence in computing education.

The two Clusters would be located one in each county and run for one year from the start of the spring term, January 2025. Both primary and secondary schools can apply to take part.

Know a computing lead who might be interested - or a school that could benefit? Your support in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated.

The deadline for schools to express interest in participating is 30th of November, so don’t delay! Successful schools will be notified as soon as possible after this date so that the Clusters can begin in January.

Please see below for further info on the Computing Clusters Programme and how schools can apply for this free support.

What is a Computing Cluster?

Computing Clusters are groups of 3-8 schools that receive 12 months of targeted support. This initiative enables teachers, subject leads, and school leadership teams to collaborate and work towards NCCE’s vision of high-quality computing education for all. For more details about the support offered during this 12-month period, please visit the Teach Computing Website

What commitment would be needed from participating schools?

The support is free, however does require some investment of time from school participants, as follows:

  • Attend bespoke interventions, coaching or mentoring sessions, and NCCE CPD based on needs analysis with your dedicated school level support specialist

  • Commit to 5 days of facilitated support to implement approaches, reflect on impact and share learnings

  • Attend three 2-hour implementation support sessions to implement learnings and support progress through the levels of the Computing Quality Framework.

How schools can apply to participate

Any schools located in Suffolk or Cambridgeshire can put themselves forward to participate. School contacts should email computingclusters@stem.org.uk in the first instance to let us know they would like to take part. Successful schools will be notified as soon as possible after this date so that the Clusters can begin in January.

For any queries about the programme, please email computingclusters@stem.org.uk.

Thank you.
