As with last week’s A level results, GCSE results are lower this year compared to 2022. This drop in grades was expected, with Ofqual releasing a statement in September 2022 which outlined their desire to return to pre-pandemic grading standards. Whilst comparisons of grade attainment between 2022 and 2023 therefore offer little insight into the current landscape of STEM Education, there is nevertheless a lot that can be discerned from this year’s GCSE results.
