The DfE have just launched their latest Teaching Internship Programme to facilitate interest from current undergraduates in teaching STEM subjects that are in-demand in schools. This is open to all undergraduate students interested in teaching a STEM subject, including part time and mature students, so as invested STEM teachers and advocators yourselves, it would be great if you could help spread the word!
Internship subjects are:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Computing
- Modern Foreign Languages (north-east schools only)
The programme details:

- Interns are paid £300 per week
- Undergraduates apply via participating schools – links to schools can be found on the GiT website
- Will last three weeks, during June and July
- Support after their internship to pursue their interest in teaching, including from the school and a dedicated one-to-one adviser from Get Into Teaching
What experience will they gain:
The opportunity to experience a range of activities to help get a feel for school life including:

- Classroom experience, which could include: assisting with lessons and providing subject support to pupils
- Shadowing experienced teachers and observing lessons, followed by a chance to jointly plan and deliver lessons
- One-to-one guidance from outstanding classroom teachers
- Opportunities to network with qualified subject specialists
