Earlier this year, STEM Learning teamed up with the Good Future Foundation to help teachers get to grips with the fast-moving world of AI in education. Since then, we’ve been speaking to educators across the UK about how AI is showing up in their classrooms. We've been talking about the good bits, the challenges, and where support is really needed.
It’s clear that AI has huge potential to help with everything from reducing workload to supporting SEND learners and personalising teaching. But it’s also raising big questions - especially around safeguarding, age-appropriate tools, data privacy, and how to keep things fair and ethical for students.
That’s why this partnership exists, we want to help you feel confident using AI, and to make sure any support or training we develop is grounded in what teachers actually need! STEM Learning brings the community and the reach; Good Future Foundation brings expertise in AI and education. Together, we’re building something practical, helpful, and responsive but to do that we need your thoughts...
We’ve already run some focus groups with primary and secondary teachers, and some strong themes are emerging:
-
Primary teachers are curious but cautious. There's excitement about creative AI tools, personalised learning, and cross-curricular opportunities, but real concerns around safeguarding, 13+ platform age restrictions, and cost.
-
Secondary teachers are feeling the pressure with issues around authenticity of student work, weak detection tools, and a lack of clear policies. But they’re also finding useful ways AI can save time and support learners.
Across both groups, teachers have said the same thing: we need clear guidance, practical CPD, and help finding safe, age-appropriate tools that work in the real world.
That’s where you come in.
We’ve put together a quick poll in the STEM Community to help shape what happens next. Where are the gaps? What do you need more of? What would help you feel more confident using AI in your classroom?
Take the PRIMARY poll and add your voice
Take the SECONDARY poll and add your voice
Your input will directly influence the kind of CPD, resources and support we develop through this partnership. Whether you're already experimenting with AI or just starting to explore it, we want to hear from you because the future of AI in education should be shaped by the people who know classrooms best.
